Something I have noticed recently, is that everytime I looked in any of the latest interiors magazines, I would find people using these fantastic subway shaped tiles in either the kitchen or the bathroom. We have been making shaped tiles for an absolute age now, so it is quite nice to be ’IN’ on the trend of the new latest thing!

We have a new twist on the old classic ceremic version using our antique glass, have a look at this…

Personally, I love the soft metallic hue and smokey tones of the tile, it is a stuner! This is our standard 4″ x 8″ size, but we can cut tiles to any size and shape, with the different options of bevelling and toughning, so let your imigination run wild!

More pictures of tiles are coming soon.

lately I have also had a fair amount of phone calls regarding the different distressed markings and tone of the tiles we offer, It is really difficult to talk through distressing marks over the telephone, so I thought the next best thing would be if I grouped together light, medium and dark tiles to give everyone an overall impression.

Do keep in mind though that because each tile is bespoke and hand silvered, every piece is a unique work of art and no two are ever exactly the same.

Light Tiles, these have a light tone with more of a subtle distressing

Medium tone, the overall glass is darker and the distressed marking is heavier

Dark Tiles, much darker tone with heavily distressed markings

I hope this clarifies things a bit in the tile tone and distressing department, but if you do need further help just give us a ring on 01225 461969 where we will be happy to answer all of your questions.

Till next time with more pictures of tiles..

Have you ever looked around your room and wished it could be a bit brighter, a bit different, well here’s how to slightly change things without breaking the bank. I thought I would start with the kitchen, as the kitchen is after all the heart of any home.

Through the magic of photoshop, I have mocked up a backsplash using our glass to give you a before and after picture…

Without Backsplash

With Antique Glass Backsplash

We are very proud to supply our antiqued glass to Chalon which has been featured in several publications.

Antiqued glass backsplashes are the ‘IN’ thing to have in your kitchen right now and we have supplied our antiqued glass for kitchens all over the world.

Another really nice and completely simple idea is to use old bottles and carboys and to have us silver them for you. You can add some light into a room or make a statement using something everyone either has around the house, or can be found really easily at car boot sales, just like these bottles below:

The look of the hand silvered the bottle is quite dramatic, the bottle now has a luminescent quality about it, it bounces light around the room. Such a simple thing to do, and it creates such a large impact.

Hand Silvered Carboy

Recently, I was looking for inspiration on the internet and was stunned by the the popularity of people wanting their glass tealight holders silvered, we can quite easily do this for you.

These would be perfect for wedding table centerpieces, warm summer evenings sitting outside or just a cozy look for the living room.

image courtsey of www.mora-store.com

hand silvered tealight holder

Last but not least, I got this idea from Anthony Reed, The owner of Antiqued Glass of Bath, who used our antiqued glass to transform his old bookcases at home, I thought that idea would be perfect for this blog and with the help of my trusty friend photoshop, I give you an example of how a shelving unit would look transformed with our antiqued glass.

shelving unit without antique glass

Shelving unit with our antiqued glass

The effect is fantastic and so simple to do. If any of these things inspire you to make some changes in your house using antiqued glass, do give us a ring on 01225 461969 to discuss your ideas.

Till next time,

Welcome to this, our first proper blog entry for Antiqued Glass of Bath!

It is February and still freezing outside so I thought I might blog about warm things, and in particular transforming the look of your fireplace mantel.

The mantel has traditionally been used as a place to put that slightly boring, and completely old-fashioned gilt mirror that everyone seems to have, or perhaps maybe that African painting brought back from her travels by your great Aunt Edna.

Why not think outside the mundane and have a look at this:

See the way it just lights up the room and brings a bit of what is outside, inside.

The antiqued glass can be cut to suit your situation and any odd shaped fireplace mantels you may have!

If you prefer to go for a different look altogether, then the antiqued glass tiles we have made for this residence in Gloucester is the way to go.

The tiles are set either side of the chimney breast and are slightly darker than the tiles in the above picture, which I think still keeps in with that clean contemporary finish, but also has echos of a vintage feel about it.

I think this enough food for thought to think about in this cold weather, In the next update I think I will blog about how to transform the ordinary things we all have in our houses and give them a fresh, new, extraordinary look using antiqued mirror glass.

Until then, keep warm!
